Meryl Kanfer, MSW, LCSW
In her current practice, Ms. Kanfer primarily treats children, adolescents, undergraduate and graduate students, and adults with eating disorders. In addition to working at Duke, Ms. Kanfer is a faculty member at the UNC School of Social Work.
Ms. Kanfer's clinical framework is rooted in the Functional approach to Social Work practice and bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment models. Evidenced based treatment including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Attachment and Psycho-dynamic theories, Trauma treatment, Play and Family therapy inform her work. She is a creative clinician who draws from her undergraduate work in child and human development. Ms. Kanfer values collaboration with other providers and family and friends important to her clients.
Ms. Kanfer prefers to treat clients who are diverse in age, race, sexual orientation, cultural background, socio-economic level and diagnostic presentation.
